Obviously, the ideal would be to enjoy a freshly caught fish, but it is not always possible. However, frozen fish is much better than most people think.

Anisakis is one of the best-known health risks associated with fish. This parasite, which lives in fish and can infect humans by causing nausea, vomiting and even intestinal occlusion, does not survive freezing, so eating frozen fish means peace of mind and greater safety.

This does not mean that eating fresh fish is dangerous. However, it is not as safe as frozen fish, since the low temperatures to which the latter is subjected rule out the possibility of the presence of anisakis.

Thanks to the effects of a good freeze, we can eat a healthy and safe fish at any time. However, if it is not thawed correctly, we will spoil this and other advantages of frozen fish. Just as conservation treatment is the responsibility of the fishing and distribution industry, thawing is the responsibility of each consumer. It is important to preserve and thaw the fish so that its nutritional values do not diminish and its taste and texture deteriorate as little as possible.
